Being ok with letting things go…

Dec 24 –

Recently I had a Cancer diagnosis…..it kinda makes one think…….

Thankfully, following some surgery it looks like I’m cured, just some radiotherapy to go and then I’m done…apart from the drugs for 5-10 years…..

It’s made me realise the making of memories is important….as is saying “Yes” to opportunities that arise….

On balance, I’m thankful of the whole experience. I’ve grown as a person & I am grateful for many things in my life.

Update….May 25

Radiotherapy done & recovery period coming to a close….

I’ve realised that tomorrow is never given…to any of us….our expectation of time is sometimes misjudged….

I’ve learned a lot…..including about swedish death cleansing….

I’ve always pushed the “there is always a positive if you look hard enough” mantra, & in addition to the free prescriptions for 5 years #WinToThePiggyBank, cancer has changed me for the better.

It has allowed me to be ok to let any guilt go, to put my needs first (not in a selfish way, but a “you can’t pour from an empty cup” way). To truly embrace living & being ok with the fact that can look very different at different times in our lives….

A life worth living….

Recently, I’ve been thinking about the most important things in life, and think perhaps these 4 elements sum up the most crucial parts:

Purpose, Time, Health & Relationships.

Purpose – With a sense of purpose, it’s certainly easier to get out of bed in the mornings & to continue on when life throws its various, yet inevitable challenges on to your path.

Time – A finite resource; once spent, it’s gone. We can’t get time back, but we can learn lessons to stop us from repeating the same mistakes & we can choose to be selective and intentional with the time we have. Being “present” allows us to fully appreciate what we have in the here & now.

Health – Often not truly appreciated until it’s lacking, being in good health, both physically, mentally & spiritually impacts all of life’s facets. Although sometimes out of our control, if we’re honest with ourselves, we can all likely make efforts to improve in this area.

Relationships – People are what life is about. They are so important in helping us to live a fulfilling life. We all benefit in finding the time to spend on the positive relationships in our world. And we can all learn & grow from the more challenging relationships we encounter along our life journeys…….
